Abstract
Fluor's engineers use process simulation and data methods expertise to create a detailed evaluation of a variety of design cases over a range of processes and industries. Detailed process simulation allows production of complex plant operating models considering steady state and dynamic operation. Simulation allows rapid evaluation of different operating scenarios, provides design information for process plants, facilitates cost optimization for clients and integrates provision of safety information. The development of process simulations is a key step in the design process and is incorporated into our schedule and quality procedures to complete projects successfully.
Client Benefits
Our experts use process simulation and data methods in various ways during all project phases. Process simulators are important tools used by Fluor and our clients alike. Fluor's experts in process simulation assist clients in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Steady State Simulation
Steady state simulation is used in conceptual design to develop mass and energy balances, generate multiple case studies and optimize processes. Thermodynamic models and simulations can be validated with plant or pilot plant data as required for specific client data or based on Fluor’s expert experience.
Dynamic Simulation
Dynamic simulation is used for developing the process control philosophy, process safety time and pressure relief calculations, troubleshooting, operator training and safety in design.
Discrete Simulation
Discrete simulation programs are excellent tools for optimization of manufacturing resources, including batch processes, where the variables of interest change only at a discrete set of points of time. These programs are commonly used for paint and coating, pesticide, herbicide, fine chemical and batch polymerization facilities.
