Fluor provided engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and commissioning services for the repowering of Urquhart Station's Units 1 and 2.
The Urquhart project is a dual fuel combined-cycle electric power plant with a nominal output of 450MW. South Carolina Electric & Gas Company owns the facility.
The repowering included the retirement of two existing pulverized coal-fired boilers. Two 150MW GE model PG7241 FA gas turbines and two Nooter Eriksen heat recovery steam generators were installed.
The project was constructed using a merit-shop approach on both a self-perform and subcontract basis
The Urquhart Repowering project received Fluor's Hugh Coble Project Excellence Award in 2002. The award is based on performance in several areas, including safety, value creation and client and community relations.
