Fluor performed engineering, procurement and construction on a CO2 recovery plant for Northeast Associates in Bellingham, MA.
The facility used the proprietary Fluor Econamine FG Plus℠ technology, an energy-efficient process for the removal of carbon dioxide from flue gases.
The Bellingham facility was the only commercial-scale CO2 recovery unit in the world operating on gas turbine flue gas with an on-stream factor of 98.5%. The high quality of the carbon dioxide product is suitable for use in the food and beverage industry.
No other process has been demonstrated at this high, 13% volume, oxygen concentration.
