Map showing the location of Sulfur Handling Terminal

Fluor served as managing contractor on ADNOC's Sulfur Handling Marine Terminal in Ruwais. The terminal is part of the Ruwais Industrial Complex and receives granulated sulfur from the THAMMAMA 'C' 450 MMCFD gas gathering, treatment and sulfur recovery complex.

We also provided engineering, procurement and construction management services on the sulfur recovery complex.

Up to 800 tons per day of granulated sulfur are received at Ruwais from 40-ton trailer trucks. It is stockpiled by means of a circular stacker in a 100-meter diameter, 40,000-ton capacity storage building. Facilities include systems for dust extraction, fire detection, emergency power and electronic control.

The associated marine shipping terminal can handle ships of up to 35,000 deadweight tons. Ships load at a rate of up to 1,100 tons per hour using a portal scraper reclaimer and a quadrant type shiploader.
