Thomas D'Agostino serves as Group President of Mission Solutions for Fluor Corporation. In this role, he oversees the sale and delivery of high-value, technical solutions to government agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy and Homeland Security; the National Nuclear Security Administration; and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.
Tom joined Fluor in 2013 as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development for Fluor’s government business. Shortly thereafter, he assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Business Development, where he was responsible for growing Fluor's presence in the government sector to include strategic planning, policy formation and capability development. Tom has more than 35 years of executive, leadership, management and operational experience in a wide variety of government-related fields.
Before joining Fluor, Tom served for more than seven years in a number of politically appointed leadership positions for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama as the undersecretary for nuclear security at the Department of Energy and administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), as well as the deputy administrator for defense programs. In these positions, he was responsible for several nuclear programs to include weapons, propulsion, security, counter-terrorism and emergency response, as well as the environmental cleanup and management programs for the Department of Energy.
He also served in a variety of executive roles, including program planning, budget formulation, operations and oversight for several nuclear-related programs at the Department of Energy, as well as technical program management at the Naval Sea Systems Command for the SEAWOLF submarine propulsion system.
Tom achieved the rank of captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves, where he served in a wide range of assignments, including Navy Department Duty Captain in the Navy Command Center in the Pentagon. He spent more than eight years on active duty in the Navy as a submarine officer. His service included assignments on the USS SKIPJACK (SSN 585) and with the Board of Inspection and Survey as the main propulsion and nuclear reactor inspector.
Tom serves on a variety of professional and non-profit boards, including Savannah River Nuclear Solutions LLC, the Portsmouth Decontamination and Decommissioning Project, Fluor Marine Propulsion and the Nuclear Energy Institute.
He holds a master's degree in national security studies from the Naval War College, a master's degree in business from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in physical science from the U.S. Naval Academy.
